Something Embarrassing About Me

People take life too seriously. We put on façades and throw these muppets into the world. But a lot goes on behind the scenes. Things we don't want other people to know--our imperfections and flaws. Sometimes it's nice to know other people have embarrassing moments too, so I thought I'd share.

I'm relatively neurotic. I don't like touching money, I think it's weird I don't know where it's been. I'm very particular about my stuff and I don't like it when random people touch me. I don't care for alcohol. I used to think it made me look cool but now I can't stand the social pressure and what it makes people do. I just try to avoid it. This puts me in awkward situations, like on dates when other people drink and I just say, "I'm fine with water."

I used to be very slow at reading and writing. I never saw the purpose until much later in life (now I love both). I don't often dress up, but I appreciate when other people do, so I guess that makes me a hypocrite. My first "real kiss" wasn't until my sophomore year of high school. I'm a little self conscious about my height (I'm 5' 8" ish), and I secretly think girls who refuse to date guys shorter than them are shallow. We can't help it. But everyone has their type.

I once threw our family board game across the living room because I lost. I had a crush on a girl for months and never found the courage to tell her until it was too late--I graduated and moved away. I didn't start drinking coffee until this year (23 years old). I stay up at night watching YouTube videos. This is a bad habit.

I like Lord of the Rings and Star Wars. I used to build my own computers. I love magic tricks. I still carry around four cards in my wallet just in case someone brings up magic in a conversation. Occasionally I watch romantic comedies alone.

I'm not proud about everything here and I wouldn't tell someone I just met these idiosyncrasies but writing them doesn't feel as weird. We're all imperfect versions of our ideal selves. Well, now you know.
