One Day

One day
when I grow up,
wait a minute
I’m up.

I don't say it any more
when does that stop?
I guess what happened is,
I’m still dreaming.

Though the weekends fly
days,
months,
years.

Putting off what we know to be true
for that one day
when we’ll finally be
enough.

Work hard
and earn your living
and then end up
hardly living.

Now the dreams of
that kid
sit on the shelf
for tomorrow.

Victim to time
eroding every trace
of our being
find it somewhere, the courage to fight.

Because one day
is already here
and it’s not waiting
for me.

Just be
what
you came here
to be.
