What Do You Want?

It's hard to hit a target in the dark. Much easier if you're aiming at something. Anything. You can see if you hit or miss, you can adjust your aim. In the dark, you rely completely on luck. You could be a million miles off and never know--just secretly hoping things work out.

I'm done living life in the dark. I want to live with intention. Problem is, life isn't always as visible as a target. We have to find our targets. That's what this post is about. What do you want? When I think about this question I feel uneasy. My stomach aches a little. Why? I don't know. Yet I feel like I must confront this question every day.

It's obvious what other people want. They'll tell, show, and try to sell you the same dream. "It's lovely" they'll say, "come on in." Sometimes what I want gets blurred. Discerning what I want and what they want is a challenge in itself. Block out the distractions.

Asking myself what I truly want can be gut-wrenching. Mostly because that's when I realize I've been lying to yours truly. It's supposed to be easy. Just pick something and stick with it right?

I've never been one to make decisions hastefully. Not that I'm incapable, but I allow the scenarios to linger. What if I did this? Or this? I should have done this. I dare you to ask yourself what you truly, honestly, unbiasedly, want. How do you feel? Are you in the dark? Or are you looking at a target? Let your arrow fly.
