Life's Truths
Some day, we are going to die. Life is short. You will never be as young (or old) as you are in this moment, ever again. Thousands of years of history have occurred before our birth, and thousands of years will occur after we die.
Why write such thoughts? "The truth will set you free". To know one's purpose is to understand what came before and what will happen after--and be able to see how we fill the gap.
One hundred juxtaposed to millions, dwarfs our existence. All the more reason to "be the change you wish to see in the world" as Ghandi said, and to accept responsibility as the architect of your life. If you feel you must play music, play. If you feel you must love, love.
The truth is, we don't have much time. The time to start is now. If you're waiting, your opportunity fades as each day blurs in to the next, and before you know it you're out of school, getting married, having children, retiring, giving back. Don't wait.
The phrase "carpe diem" (seize the day) is a reminder of life's truths. It's easy to run from the truth because sometimes the truth can be scary. Sometimes we want to create our own reality. But for the brave, the truth is liberating.
I will never gain back the time I invested writing this post just as you will not gain back the time you invested reading. But hopefully, it was time well allocated.
If you are searching for answers, seek no further than truth. The truth is, there will never be another moment exactly like this one--each is different, fragile, and beautiful.
Unfortunately, we don't decide if we die, but we can choose how we live. Be brave. "Be the change".
