Little One
never cage a bird that’s
meant to fly
watching
as it slowly starts to die
you see
it's beauty is in its grace
as it soars at will, high above, whichever way it pleases
it wasn't built for
bars and locks
but hills and rocks, oceans, prairies, sing little one, sing
and let the world see you
hear you
do it
there's nowhere for you to go in here
but to gaze longingly into the distance
wondering
what's out there?
when you find it
don't let it
weigh you down, clip your beautiful wings, lock you up
for all to see
fly away fast if you must
we'll understand why
some just weren't meant for cages
your dreams
little one
live freely
in the
sky
